However, the Israelites lost hold of the covenant with God and suffered enslavement under the hands of the Egyptians for 400 years. At this time, God commanded Moses to imprint the Word upon his heart, teach it to the children, and never forget it. If so, how must we relay this covenant? 1. Inscribe the Word in your heart The Israelites lived through a devastating period of 400 years as slaves. However, the day they applied the blood of the lamb on their doorposts they were liberated. The blood of the lamb signifies Jesus Christ. When the Israelites held onto this covenant, God parted the Red Sea and protected them with the pillar of cloud and fire. God commands us to inscribe this Word deeply in our hearts so that we will never lose hold of the covenant, no matter where we may be. 2. Teach your children In addition, God commands us to teach the covenant to our future generation. We must teach our children to enjoy the Gospel and the blessing of the covenant within their lives.
