youve entered, now how do you get there! For the Victorians here are some tips. If you are travelling from East of Melbourne, the best route is Cann River. Between Cann River & Orbost, there is a bit of windy road where you can get stuck behind a log truck. It can be a little rough if towing a caravan. You might consider the next route below. A little longer but easier driving. From north or west of Melbourne, better to travel up the freeway through Yass & come down through Canberra. About 80 kilometres longer than via Tumut but much better road. Dual carriageways. Safer for night time driving.. Maybe 20 minutes extra The other route is going via Tumut but you need to watch out for roo alley along Blowering Dam. People MUST fill up at Tumut, as there is no fuel between Tumut & Adaminaby. There is a steep uphill climb from Talbingo (back end of Blowering Dam) but a pretty reasonable road once you reach the top. One way we wouldnt recommend is to come via Thredbo - especially if youre towing! Some very steep, narrow & windy stretches there, particularly through the cuttings. Plus heaps of roos. National Parks - you are not allowed to let your dogs out whilst travelling through them. There is no charge for entering the national parks if you are going straight through, & there isnt even a ranger station on the Tumut to Adaminaby stretch.
