zingayambe Kuyiwalika Nkhaza za Malawi Congress Party MCP: MCP formed The Malawi Young Pioneers which had security branch, which made the organization an object of fear. Every member of the MYP swore allegiance to President Kamuzu Banda personally in a manner reminiscent of Hitler’s Storm Troopers. Under the laws of Malawi the MYP had the same powers in Matters of security as regular policeman. No policeman could arrest a member of the MYP without prior consultation with the officer-in-charge of the MYP. No police officer could release someone arrested by an MYP before consultation with his or her commanding officer… They felt they were more valuable to Kamuzu Banda than the police and army were. Many of the atrocities linked with the MCP regime were perpetrated by the MYP security wing.
