ÖMER THE TOURIST IN STAR TREK (1973) [Turkish Star Trek – The Man Trap ripoff] Ömer the Tourist in Star Trek is a 1973 Turkish cult science-fiction film that was an unauthorized rip-off of the 1966 Star Trek episode The Man Trap and which also used unauthorized footage from the television series. It features Sadri Alışık as Ömer the Tourist, a plain-spoken guy who somehow wanders into bizarre situations. Ömer appeared in eight movies made in Turkey between 1964 and 1973, and this was the eighth and final in the series. Here he is beamed aboard the Starship Enterprise. Although the appearance of Ömer is meant to be comedic, the true hilarity for we sci-fi fans, of course, is in seeing this Star Trek ripoff! The film is in Turkish — sorry — but fans who know the story of The Man Trap shouldnt have much trouble following along. (The YouTube video is not subtitled in English, despite the comment that it is.)
