Well they would be right as when you get stuff like ‘Shanghaied’ how could I not be. The band behind this album are Ammunition who are the latest in a long line of bands from Scandinavia that have showed up to rock your world, and by that I mean they really do “Rock My World!” Whilst not exactly a brand new band Ammunition came to be due to the disbanding of Wig Wam last year and this lead vocalist Age Sten Nilsen to team up with Erik Mårtensson (of Eclipse / W.E.T fame. The result is this fantastic album and hopefully (for all our sakes) a permanent band. Like the lyric says You dont go messing with a silverback - the opener ‘Silverback’ is classic rock for the new era, however for me the best song here is actually the albums title track... It has everything you want from a melodic rock band. Melodies to die for - tick, face melting solo - tick! This isnt actually that far remove from Wig Wam but thats ultimately down to the singers voice, and thankfully whilst their tongue in cheek vibe is still evident it’s kept much more in check which benefits the album and band greatly. Just take one listen to Tie Me Down with its groovy lick or the dreamy Road To Babylon and tell me I’m wrong. The latter actually gives the listener a chance to breathe and the band sound better for it. Meanwhile Take Out The Enemies is kind of apt given the recent terrorist attacks worldwide but once again it’s all done with clever musical effort that belies its lyrical content. Following this up with Hit Me (With Your Bombs) maybe isnt the cleverest idea however but they manage to pull it off. Ammunition sound on fire on all ten tracks contained here and giving their all in the name of rock! These guys are definitely a band to watch out for in 2015. uberrock.co.uk/cd-reviews/17-january-cd/13476-ammunition-shanghaied-aor-heaven.html
