Tại hội thảo, Bà Katherine Muller Marin- Trưởng Đại diện UNESCO tại Việt Nam đã chỉ ra: Việt Nam, một thành viên tích cực của ASEAN, đã có những bước tiến dài trong công cuộc đổi mới hệ thống giáo dục và đào tạo cũng như xây dựng xã hội học tập. UNESCO rất tự hào hỗ trợ việc xây dựng và triển khai Đề án “Xây dựng xã hội học tập giai đoạn 2012-2020” thông qua việc cung cấp các báo cáo nghiên cứu so sánh quốc tế và thúc đẩy phương pháp xây dựng tầm nhìn ở cấp quốc gia và cấp tỉnh, thành phố nhằm xác định đặc điểm cần đạt được về công dân học tập và xã hội học tập.
