Russia started creation of military base in the Arctic The Russian Armed forces started creation of constant base on New Siberian Archipelago located in the Arctic. To New Siberian Archipelago from Severomorsk the group of the ships of Northern fleet moved forward. They should deliver staff, equipment and property of tactical group which from this year will serve there to islands. As the commander of Northern fleet admiral Vladimir Korolev declared, to New Siberian Archipelago there was a big anti-submarine ship Admiral Levchenko, the big landing ships Georges the Victorious and Kondopoga, the Sergey Osipov tanker, a saving tow Pamir and the kilektorny vessel of Baltic Fleet Alexander Pushkin. By words the Queen, for providing the safest conditions of swimming in the Arctic areas, difficult from the point of view of a navigation situation, transition of group of the ships will be organized taking into account features of hydrometeoconditions and continuous monitoring of an ice situation in which planes and helicopters of sea aircraft of Northern fleet will be involved. Some stages of transition of the ships of Northern fleet as it is planned, will carry out accompanied by nuclear ice breakers of Rosatom. In 2012 marines of Northern fleet for the first time in the history of the Russian Navy carried out disembarkation of a sea landing to not equipped coast of the island of Kotelny. In the 2013th the group of the ships led by a leader of Northern fleet the heavy nuclear rocket cruiser Peter the Great delivered equipment and property for restoration of aviation commandants office Speed to New Siberian Archipelago. As experts note, building of base on the archipelago near the Norwegian sea border is a signal of Moscow to other states developing vigorous activity in the Arctic region.
