I dont want mining to take over the beautiful grassland... I want the people to believe in a strong government. The Power of Chingis Khans empire came from the fact that his governmental system was the greatest of its time. People should not be in fear to speak out against the wrongs they see in the country. Damdinii Sükhbaatar fought for Mongolias INDEPENDENCE. In 1990 The people struggled to make the COMMUNIST government resign. They began a hunger strike until something happened. I woke up a few weeks ago to hear news that the government is selling areas of Mongolia off to make money for the economy. An economy that consists of foreign investors... Is destined to crash. When they are done with the land and have destroyed it all... drained it of every resource.. they will abandon it like an unwanted child. Leaving it in the harsh winter to survive on its own. Mongolia has always been a lone wolf fighting for itself and the people are tough and rugged. Even with a bad economy they are nomads who know how to live off the land when in need of struggle. What happens when that land is gone? What happens when you force people out of their nomadic homes and into the city? They didnt grow up learning anything besides the traditions of the country and someone forces them into a city where they will now have taxes, pay bills, and rent. Some of them will have trouble finding job because they may not be properly educated. It is a strange choice of action and I am sure it will help Mongolia jump start in the right direction but at what cost???? People are not speaking against this because of fear. The government has taken those who protested as prisoners in the past. Democracy is all about freedoms. Freedom of Speech. Freedom to live where one chooses. Freedom to go outside, milk a cow, sing to the Earth and then peacefully go back into your ger. What will they make the man with 50 goats, 12 cattle, and 20 horses do once he has no more free land to live on? Will they make him move to the city and abandon his nomadic ways??? What will happen to the free roaming wild horses that make the country the most beautiful place on Earth? Where will they go when they have no land to live on? This is a history repeating itself. The Native Americans were given advances and then robbed blind of everything. We had a whole continent. Now we are spread apart and dont even have so much as a city. Our spirits are still not broken. But we made the mistake of allowing someone else to use our resources. They found things like gold then decided the whole continent must have more and continued to eradicate, enslave, and destroy our people and our way of life. I doubt things will be this brutal with Mongolia but history always repeats itself. I only hope that someone either stops these actions or that something stable and secure is shown to the people to calm their hearts and TRUTHFULLY convince them that this is a good decision. I have found translations of politicians spreading lies about being concerned with the people and the country... then they are shown driving Hummer in Mongolia. I sit here and make videos about the orphans of Mongolia in the Ger District and you drive around in your fancy Hummer. There is a saying Үнэнийг хэлсэн хүнд хүн өстэй, үхэр унасан хүнд нохой өстэй It means those in power will hate people like me who speak the truth and the normal people dogs will hate them back for riding oxen. We are the dogs trying to bark as loud as we can at the ox riding politician... We simply want to tell them Just remember one thing. Sometimes China Views Dogs As Food Instead of A Friend.
