Mr Mubarak had been imprisoned since he was driven from power in February 2011. But after being acquitted of all charges over the killing of hundreds of protesters in the historic uprising that ended his authoritarian regime, Cairo’s judges have raised expectations of the former ruler’s return to his luxury villa at Sharm-el-Sheikh.
