جمعية حقوق الحمير Donkeys Rights Association يعتبر بيع لحوم الحمير جرما يعاقب عليه فاعله في الدول العربية، فقد قضت محكمة مصرية بحبس وتغريم 3 جزارين أدينوا بالاتجار في لحوم الحمير والخيول النافقة، بعد تحقيقات استمرت نحو 3 شهور عقب القبض عليهم. وفي سابقة هي الأولى من نوعها، ألزمت المحكمة المدانين بنشر الحكم في صحيفتين يوميتين، وتعليق الحكم على باب محل الجزارة لمدة 5 سنوات، بعد إغلاقه لمدة سنة ونصف The sale of donkey meat offense punishable by a perpetrator in the Arab countries, the Egyptian court jailed and fined 3 butchers convicted of trafficking in the meat of dead donkeys and horses, after investigations that lasted about 3 months after their arrest. In the past, the first of its kind, committed the court convicted the publication of the judgment in two daily newspapers, and suspend judgment on the door of the butcher shop for a period of 5 years, after it closed for a year and a half
