يعتبر توماس جيفري بيبي، عاالم الآثار الذي اكتشف حضارة دلمون التي عمرها أربعة آلاف سنة، و في علم أساطير بلاد سومر، كانت دلمون جزيرة غامضة، إذ ذهب إليها البطل الملحمي جلجامش في بحثه عن الحياة الأبدية. وصفت بأنها المكان الذي لا موت فيه أو مرض، و ذات الكميات الوفيرة من المياه العذبة، لقد بدأ بيبي حفرياته مع زميله غلوب في العام 1953، إذ تحققا من وجود بقايا آثار حضارة دلمون غائرة في الأراضي البحرينية، حيث وجد بيبي أدلة عن حضارة قديمة في تلال الدفن، تضم آلاف القبور و قد أطلق عليها المقبرة الكبرى قبل التاريخ و قام بزيارتها 35 مرة وآخرها كان في العام 1997. كما أنها أعطت مزيداً من الشواهد على أهمية دلمون كمركز تجاري، و هي مكانة تستردها البحرين الآن ، يذكر أن بيبي تدرب كعالم آثار كلاسيكي، و تخصص في النصوص الآشورية، و ترأس متحف مويغارد في أوهوس بالدنمارك و مديراً للبحث الأثري الميداني لجامعة أوهوس، و تقاعد في العام 1987. Thomas Bibi, the archaeologist who discovered the archaeological sites of Delmon civilization which is 4000 years old. In the legend of Sumerians, Delmon was a mysterious island where the epic hero Gilgamesh went to seek the everlasting life. It was described as a place where there are no diseases or death. It was full of water sources. Bibi and his colleagues established a relation with Delmon as being a legendary paradise. He started his digging with his friends Globe in the year 1953 because they were certain of the existence of the ruins of Delmon civilization in the Bahraini soil. Bibi found proofs of an ancient civilization in the burial hills comprising thousands of tombs. They were called the great pre-history cemetery. He visited it 35 times, the last one in 1997. There were more proofs of evidence concerning Delmon as a commercial center. It’s rank which Bahrain is regaining now since. The Baby trained as a scientist the effects of a classic, and specialty in the texts Assyrian, and presided over the museum Moegard in Ohos Denmark and director of research Archaeological Field University Ohos, and retirement in 1987.
