खूप पूर्वी एक कविता नेटावर वाचली होती. इथे मूळ कवितेबरोबर तिचं मी केलेलं भाषांतर देतो आहे. मूळ कवितेच्या कवीचे नाव "शेल्टन" असे आहे - केरळमधला एक माणूस. कविता मला खूप आवडली होती - अजूनही आवडते. तुम्हालाही कदाचित आवडावी. :) In the dimly lit dusty corner of the office a slim arrogant cigarette sits contently smoking John. Beyond the Alps, a sleepy village awakens to the sounds of an aimless football kicking around a bunch of schoolboys. On the merciless, mine-studded streets of Kandahar, a piece of American bread eats starving, veiled women. In distant cities, books read scholars bikes ride punks films watch viewers groceries buy shoppers pianos play prodigies pictures paint artists bikinis wear babes fires light arsonists mountains climb daredevils love makes couples islands discover explorers and the dead speak well of mourners. While on a crowded train speeding past coconut groves, a stupid poem writes me. - Shelton ऑफिसच्या मंद उजेडात एका धुळकट कोपर्‍यात एक बारकीशी सिगारेट पीत बसली आहे जॉनला निवांतपणे. तिकडे आल्प्स पर्वतापलिकडे एक झोपाळलेले खेडे हळुहळू उठते आहे शाळकरी पोरांना लाथाडणार्‍या एका दिशाहीन फुटबॉलच्या आवाजात. कंदाहारमधल्या क्रूर रस्त्यांवर अमेरिकन ब्रेडचा तुकडा चघळतो आहे बुरख्यातल्या एका भुकेल्या बाईला. दूरदूरच्या नगरांमधे पुस्तके वाचताहेत विद्वानांना मोटारबाईक्स चालवताहेत आवारा लोकांना सिनेमे बघताहेत प्रेक्षकांना दुकाने खरीदताएत ग्राहकांना पियानो वाजवताएत वादकांना चित्रे काढत आहेत कलाकारांना बिकिनीज घालताएत टंच पोरींना आगी भडकवताएत घातपाती लोकांना पर्वत चढताएत साहसवीरांना प्रणय करतो आहे युगुलांना बेटे शोधताहेत दर्यावर्दींना मृतात्मे श्रद्धांजली वाहताएत शोककर्त्यांना. ... जेव्हा नारळीच्या बागांतून पळणार्‍या एका गच्च भरलेल्या आगगाडीत एक वेडी कविता लिहीते आहे मला. - शेल्टन.
