I heard these lines from a women who jolted mine conscience.At the tormenting age of 80, she still works as domestic maid in various houses. But, the reason why she works is entirely different from our perception of working and probably should shame all of us. She has no kids and no one who could look after her. She never ever in her life did a thing which would hurt her identity. She worked all her life to make a living. Now, she is working to get a decent death. She is afraid that when she dies , her body would be taken away by the municipal corporation and would be dumped to be savoured by the scavengers. This fear of hers forces her to work even after being an octogenarian. She is raising money so that when she dies, any Samaritan would ensure her funeral rites with the money raised. She has understood that excepting a dignified death in todays society is a folly. Its her responsibility alone to look after herself before and after death. This shows the irony of life. m simply vexed.
