द्वा सुपर्णा सयुजा सखाया समानं वृक्षं परिषस्वजाते | तयोरन्यः पिप्पलं स्वाद्वत्ति अनश्नन् अन्यो अभिचाकशीति || There are two birds on the same tree. One bird sitting on the lower branch is enjoying the fruits of the tree. While eating sweet ones, the bird is enjoying, feeling sad eating bitter ones. The other bird, without eating anything, with a calm mind, beyond pleasure and pain, enjoying its own self. Here body is tree, the bird which is eating fruits is Jivatma and the one which is not eating fruits is Paramatma. The one who is longing for the objects of the world will experience consequences thereof. The other who is beyond the worldly desires will enjoy ones own self. The only path for Jivatma to merge with Paramatma is by following rigid spiritual pursuits, one has to cleanse oneself to reach desireless state of mind and realise and experience that the Soul within is the same all pervading.
