नेपाल हाम्रो घर हो डेरा होईन ! What kind of vacuous obnoxious statement is this? Really, it ruined my day and here is my rant. Is Bibekshil Nepali a genuine youth activist organization or a bigoted hateful T-party? This statement not only offends and alienates the actual derawaals but also symbolic derawaals. Like most of the settlers in Kathmandu, my parents also lived in dera most of all their lives. which did not mean that they did not care for the house they were renting. They regularly swept the aangan, weeded the garden, brushed the mossy walls, put candles and flowers during tihar and gave generous offerings to the beggars and baba jees who gave their blessings to the house. They now own their own house and are renting one extra floor. and their derawaals also take good care of the house. They make sure the gates are locked at night, check there is no water overflowing from the tanks and their goofy dog thinks that he is defending the whole house. Also, what kind of message does it give to the children of Bhutanese refugees, Indian merchants and UN expats who have been renting their space in the country? Are we saying that they are less involved and are uninvited in the activism party ? Didnt Gyanendra give us a good lesson how the so-called actual owner of the house takes care of the house? mera pita purkhale arjyako desh ! It is not ownership, but the connection and goodwill stupid!! Again, what about the Nepali derawaals who are living in different countries around the globe? I see U.S. Nepali derawaals cheering for the U.S. soccer team with all their sincerity. I cannot understand this distinction between ghar and dera and the idea of ownership when it comes to do something good for the country. I think Bibekshil Nepali should come up with sensible slogans than holding onto those k garne lai vanda k garne lai laaj vane jasto utterly stupid, vacuous cheap jingles. natra feri it will be जुन गोरुको सिङ्ग छैन, उस्कै नाम तिखे।
