यस्त्वात्मरतिरेव स्यादात्मतृप्तश्च मानव: । आत्मन्येव च सन्तुष्टस्तस्य कार्यं न विद्यते ॥ But the man whose delight is in the self alone, who is content in the Self, who rejoices only in the Self, for him there is no action that he need do. 3.17 नैव तस्य कृतेनार्थो नाकृतेनेह कश्चन । न चास्य सर्वभूतेषु कश्चिदर्थव्यपाश्रय: ॥ Neither has he any profit to gain in this life from the actions he has done or from the actions he has not done; nor is there any living creature on whom he need rely for any purpose. 3.18 The man who is thus contented in himself certainly continues to act in the world, but his behaviour has become natural behaviour. It is no longer motivated by selfish desires, nor is its effectiveness disturbed by any shortcomings that might arise from dullness on his part. This comes about because he has fulfilled the purpose of all possible desires and all possible actions in his life. He now engages himself in actions motivated not by selfish individuality but by cosmic purpose. Through him works the divine intelligence, for he has become a fitting instrument to carry out the divine plan in the world. Such a life is a natural life. It is the result of the established intellect. - Maharishi Mahesh Yogi comments on ch.3, v.18
