প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা সংযুক্ত আরব আমিরাতের (ইউএই) সাথে সম্পর্ক আরো জোরদার এবং দেশটিতে জনশক্তি রফতানি বৃদ্ধির লক্ষ্য নিয়ে তিনদিনের এক সরকারি সফরে আবুধাবির উদ্দেশ্যে আগামীকাল ঢাকা ত্যাগ করবেন। রধানমন্ত্রী ও তাঁর সফরসঙ্গীদের বহন করা জাতীয় পতাকাবাহী বিমান বাংলাদেশ এয়ারলাইন্সের একটি ভিভিআইপি ফ্লাইট সকাল সাড়ে ৮টার সময় হযরত শাহজালাল আন্তর্জাতিক বিমানবন্দর ছেড়ে যাওয়ার কথা। মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রীর সফরকালে বাংলাদেশ ও ইউএই’র মধ্যে বাণিজ্য, জনশক্তি ও বিনিয়োগ সংক্রান্ত বেশ কয়েকটি চুক্তি ও সমঝোতা স্মারক স্বাক্ষরিত হবে। দুদেশের মধ্যে ফরেন অফিস কনসাল্টেশন সমঝোতা স্মারক, উচ্চশিক্ষা ও বৈজ্ঞানিক গবেষণা বিষয়ক সমঝোতা স্মারক, জনশক্তি রপ্তানি পুনরায় চালু করতে ইউএই’র একটি আউটসোর্সিং কোম্পানির সঙ্গে সমঝোতা স্মারক এবং দন্ডপ্রাপ্তদের বিনিময়, বিনিয়োগ সুরক্ষা ও সম্প্রাসরণ, চট্টগ্রামের রাঙ্গুনিয়ায় ইউএই’র আল নাহিয়ান ফাউন্ডেশন কর্তৃক একটি হাসপাতাল স্থাপন, কূটনৈতিক ও সরকারি পাসপোর্টধারীদের ভিসামুক্ত গমনাগমন ও ইউএই দূতাবাসের জন্য ঢাকায় এক খন্ড জমি হস্তান্তর চুক্তিসহ বেশ কয়েকটি দলিল স্বাক্ষরিত হবে। অপরাধ নিয়ন্ত্রণে উভয় দেশের মধ্যে নিরাপত্তা সহযোগিতা জোরদারের লক্ষ্যে বাংলাদেশ ও সংযুক্ত আরব আমিরাতের মধ্যে একটি চুক্তি স্বাক্ষরের প্রস্তাব সোমবার মন্ত্রিসভায় অনুমোদন করা হয়েছে। বিনিয়োগ বোর্ডের তথ্যানুযায়ী, বর্তমানে বাংলাদেশে পঞ্চম বৃহত্তম বিনিয়োগকারী দেশ হল সংযুক্ত আরব আমিরাত। এদেশের টেলিযোগাযোগ, ব্যাংকিং,সিরামিক এবং রাসায়নিক ও বস্ত্র খাতে ইউএই’র মোট ২শ’ ৫০ কোটি মার্কিন ডলার বিনিয়োগ রয়েছে। ২০১৩-১৪ অর্থবছরে বাংলাদেশ সংযুক্ত আরব আমিরাতে ২৪ কোটি ৫০ লাখ ডলার মূল্যের পণ্যসামগ্রী রপ্তানি এবং সেদেশ থেকে ৮৪ কোটি ৩০ লাখ ডলার মূল্যের সামগ্রী আমদানি করেছে। ইউএইতে বাংলাদেশের রপ্তানির ৭৮ শতাংশ আসে তৈরি পোশাক খাত থেকে। PM flies to UAE tomorrow Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina leaves Dhaka for Abu Dhabi tomorrow morning on a three-day official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) aimed at further boosting Bangladeshs bilateral ties with the oil-rich nation and increasing manpower export. A VVIP flight of national flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the Prime Minister and members of her entourage is scheduled to take off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport here at 8:30 am. The flight is expected to reach Abu Dhabi International Airport at 11:30 am (UAE time). During the three-day bilateral tour to the UAE, the Prime Minister is scheduled to hold meetings with Mother of the Nation Sheikh Fatima, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Foreign Minister Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi on October 26, according to foreign ministry sources. Sheikh Hasina will also attend a reception of Bangladeshi community in Abu Dhabi. On October 27, she will fly to Dubai to hold a meeting with Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. After holding the meeting, the Prime Minister will fly to Ras al-Khaimah (RAK) for holding meeting with its ruler Sheikh Saud Bin Aaqr Al Qasimi. Before that she will attend a luncheon hosted by the ruler of RAK. From there she will again fly to Dubai to catch the home-bound VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines at about 4:45 pm and expected to reach in Dhaka at about 11:30 pm. According to the sources, half a dozen agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) on trade, manpower and investment are expected to be signed between Bangladesh and the UAE during the visit. The instruments likely to be inked include an MoU on foreign office consultation, an MoU with a UAE outsourcing company to resume manpower export, an agreement on transfer of sentenced persons, a deal on promotion and protection of investment, an agreement on establishing a hospital by Al-Nahyan Foundation, UAE, in Rangunia, Chittagong, an agreement on visa exemption for diplomatic and official passport holders, an MoU on cooperation on higher education and scientific research and an agreement on handing over a piece of land in Dhaka for the UAE embassy. Meanwhile, the cabinet on Monday approved a proposal for signing of an agreement between Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), aiming to increase security cooperation between the two countries to control crimes. The UAE is currently the fifth largest investing country in Bangladesh with $2.5 billion total investment in telecommunications, banking, ceramic, chemicals and textiles, according to the Board of Investment. Bangladesh exported goods worth $ 245 million in 2013-2014 to the UAE against its import of $843 million. RMG constituted around 78 percent of Bangladeshs exports to the UAE.
