ਰਾਤੀ ਰੁਤੀ ਥਿਤੀ ਵਾਰ ॥ਪਵਣ ਪਾਣੀ ਅਗਨੀ ਪਾਤਾਲ ॥ ਤਿਸੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਧਰਤੀ ਥਾਪਿ ਰਖੀ ਧਰਮ ਸਾਲ ॥ raatee rutee thitee vaar ॥ pavan paanee agnee paataal ॥ tis vich dhartee thaap rakhee dharam saal ॥ days and nights, the various seasons (spring, summer, winter etc), calendar dates, days of the week ॥ wind, water, fire and skies ॥ between the composite sum of all these, Lord created the land as a sacred place to earn and practice the divinity, devotion and meditation of The Lord (to attain salvation) ॥ ਤਿਸੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਜੀਅ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਕੇ ਰੰਗ ॥ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਅਨੇਕ ਅਨੰਤ ॥ tis vich jee-a jugat kay rang ॥ tin kay naam anayk anant ॥ on this earth there are creatures of varied fashion, color and lifestyle ॥ they all are known by infinite different names ॥ ਕਰਮੀ ਕਰਮੀ ਹੋਇ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ ਸਚਾ ਆਪਿ ਸਚਾ ਦਰਬਾਰੁ ॥ karmee karmee ho-ay veechaar ॥ sachaa aap sachaa darbaar ॥ all these creatures, in accordance with their own noble deeds or sinful actions harvest the fruit of their life long deeds on this earth ॥ The True Lord always deliver the justice from His True courthouse ॥ ਤਿਥੈ ਸੋਹਨਿ ਪੰਚ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥ ਨਦਰੀ ਕਰਮਿ ਪਵੈ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥ tithai sohan panch parvaan ॥ nadree karam pavai neesaan ॥ The Lords beloved, saints, seers and devotees adorn His courthouse by their presence, and the radiance on their faces shows off the obvious grace of the Lord on them ॥ ਕਚ ਪਕਾਈ ਓਥੈ ਪਾਇ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਗਇਆ ਜਾਪੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੩੪॥ kach pakaa-ee othai paa-ay ॥ Nanak ga-i-aa jaapai jaa-ay ॥੩੪॥ the fame and renounce of this world carry no weight as true theist or atheist are graded in His court ॥ O Nanak, whether one is divine or sinner is declared only when one reaches and faces Him in His court ॥34॥ (34th Pauree Japji Sahib)
