Soft and kind hearted Guruji were tolerant but received his marshal art and warfare training from his grandfather and also inherited 2200 horse riders that were maintained by Guru Hargobind ji. Guru Har Rai ji never wanted any confrontation with Moguls so he kept low profile and concentrated on the missionary work to spread Sikhism in Malwa of Punjab. He also sent missionaries to Delhi and Rajasthan. He was very keen to learn about herbal medicines and also practiced it. The kind hearted Guruji went hunting but always caught animals live and then released them in century. Soft, kind hearted, tolerant, missionary Guruji had another strong side to him and that was his conviction to maintain the dignity and sacredness of Gurbani. Once he was summoned by the Emperor Aurangzeb to Delhi as Guruji knew his intensions he thought of sending his son Ram Rai to meet the Emperor and asked him to maintain the dignity of House of Nanak. Ram Rai was given a warm luxurious welcome so he forgot the teachings of his father and showed miracles to the Emperor and when asked to explain the verse of Guru Nanakji he simply changed it. On return to Kiratpur Guruji refused to see him and banished him forever from his sight.
