ஒரு பழய வெளிவராத ஆங்கில்த்தில் எழுதப்ப்படட ஆசிரியருக்கு ஒர் கடிதம்.................... Sir, (For your reference....... I am a lot more interested in sending this to our former CBI director than your publication in Open Page in Hindu. I am writing this as I was unable to reach his email id in spite of my best efforts. This is his second article I read in re law, justice, and social ethics. I feel that no great man can rest in peace without knowing the public reaction to his views. I can stand judges sending killers out in open on the basis of a benefit of doubt. My regard to police men makes me suffer pain when they sound a little off kindness social fairness. His previous article on crime and judgement was about Arushi case where the victims’ parents were convicted.) I read the article “truth is the best defence” in Sunanda’s suicide or medicinal overdose by Mr Rgahvan. . I have defended nearly 3000 crimes all sorts where I was convinced only two cases were falsely charge-sheeted by police. When I read his expression that “his heart wet out to accused in Arushi case, who had no previous crime history.” I realized that my heart never went out to the accused in any of the cases I lost In the instant case of Sashi Tharur, Sri Ragavan comes up with a previous history of unprosecuted crime supposed to have been committed at few thousand feet above ground level with another central minster as an eye as well of (ear) witness to the quarrel. Mr. Ragavan has been an investigating officer and almost as good a judge in an accusation against the Chief Minister of Gujarat. I am also aware he was almost the only eye witness in the scene for prosecution in Rajiv Gandhi murder. My heart goes out to him as Mr. Raghavan was the one man army who stayed put in the scene while his entire army deserted him. I am one person who would realise the mental agony he should have felt during Mr. Karthigeyan’s investigations of that very case. I am one lawyer who is pained at a cop-to-cop lack of kindness: for duty comes first for them Mr. Ragavan, like me belongs to the old school of husband-wife-relations. Modern Idea of social rights and wrongs are ever changing. My sympathies go to powerful and powerless an also rich and poor alike. Let us not be Judgmental. Charuhasan actor/Advocate 21-1-2014
