వై‌ఎస్ 1999 లో తెలంగాణ ఎం‌ఎల్‌ఏ లచే తెలంగాణ కు అనుకూలంగా లేఖ వ్రాయించాడు అనేది పచ్చి అబద్దం. నిజానికి 2000 లో 41 మండి తెలంగాణ ఎం‌ఎల్‌ఏ లు చిన్నారెడ్డి ఆధ్వర్యం లో సోనియా గాంధీ కి తెలంగాణ ఏర్పాటు కు కేంద్రం లోని ఎన్‌డి‌ఏ మీద వత్తిడి తేమని లేఖ ఇచ్చారు.అదికూడా బాబు సమర్ధించి , పొత్తుపెట్టుకొన్న అప్పటి అధికార NDA 3 రాష్ట్రాల ఏర్పాటు(chattisgadh,jarkhand,uttaranchal )ప్రకటించాక. ఆనాటి హిందూ, డెక్కన్ హెరాల్డ్ అనే ఆంగ్ల పత్రికలు ఇదే విషయాన్ని చెప్పాయి కూడా అంటే కాక వైయెస్ కు ఈ లేఖ కు ఎలాంటి సంబంధం లేదు అని కూడా చెప్పాయి. ఆనాటి తెలంగాణ కాంగ్రెస్ ఎం‌ఎల్‌ఏ లు చిన్నారెడ్డి, జీవన్ రెడ్డి కూడా ఆ లేఖ కు వైయెస్ కు ఎలాంటి సంబంధం లేదు టి‌వి ల చర్చల్లో చెప్పారు. అసలు 1998 లోనే ఒక వోటు రెండు రాష్ట్రాలు అనే కాకినాడ తీర్మానం ద్వారా రాష్ట్ర విభజనకు అంగీకారం తెలిపిన బి‌జే‌పి తో బాబు 1999, 2004 లో ఎలా పొత్తుపెట్టుకొన్నాడు? hindu/2000/09/08/stories/04082019.htm Telangana Cong. leaders to press for statehood Friday, September 08, 2000 HYDERABAD, SEPT. 7. Congress(I) leaders from Telangana, including legislators, will meet at Mahabunagar on Sept. 10 to impress upon the central leadership of the party to take up the cause of separate statehood for the region.Former APCC(I) president, Mr. Mallikarjun, who took the initiative for the meeting, told mediapersons that the political climate was ripe to press the demand for a “Telangana State.” The party leaders would adopt a resolution which would be submitted to the Congress(I) president, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, requesting her to take up the issue with the Central Government. The meeting at Mahabubnagar would be attended by all the 41 MLAs from the Telangana districts, he said. The CLP deputy leader, Dr. P. Shankar Rao, the secretary, Mr. G. Chinna Reddy, and senior leaders – Mr. M. Baga Reddy, Mr. T. Purushotham Rao, Mr. K. Ram Reddy, Mr. M. Kodanda Reddy and Mr. V. Rajeswara Rao – were present at the press meet. Mr. Mallikarjun explained that they did not intend to organise any mass movement to achieve the statehood for Telangana. They were optimistic that with the Central Government favourably disposed towards the concept of smaller States, the Congress-I high command would also favourably act on their representation. The former PCC(I) president said neither the PCC(I) president nor the CLP leader was expected to attend the Mahabubnagar meet “as we do not want to embarrass them because the idea is to take up the issue directly with the party high command”.
