STORY: The film, which means ‘my teacher, is asking for people to record a video clip of them covering the song Fon Namta meaning Tears of rain from the movie. Lucky winners will receive cash, prizes and tickets to the movie. The original song is performed by the lead actor Chanthasone Thavixay or Mond with the lyrics written by Chinda Kaensombath. It tells a bittersweet story of love lost with the man being left in the rain by his girl. Interview: Chanthasone Thavixay, lead actor ….Lao…. According to Chanthasone Thavixay, who is a well-known television news reporter and presenter, he was really excited to not only act in the film but also have the chance to sing in the motion picture as well. “ Khou Khongkoi ” is the heart warming story of the main character Khampoun who is given the chance to study abroad after graduating from the National University of Laos, but instead turns it down to return to his home village to teach the children there. He said “ Khou Khongkoi ” will become a model research project for the Khonekhaen University students in their film studies. The competition is now open now and we are encouraging budding vocalists covering the song “ Khou Khongkoi ” to upload their video clips to the Facebook page until October 20 The project will select the three best of the candidates with a good voice to receive prizes. The winner will get 1.5 million kip while the runner up will get 1 million kip and the third place entrant will receive 500,000 kip. The project is also providing prizes to entrants who upload their picture with the word “ Khou Khongkoi ” to the Facebook page. The picture that receives the most likes will receive 500,000 kip, a T-shirt and two tickets to the film that will be screened on October 20 at Lao ITECC.
