တခါက ရဟန္းေလးတစ္ပါး Honolulu ရွိ East West Centre ကို Leadership Program တက္ခ်င္လုိ႔ ေရးခဲ့တဲ့ စာေလးပါ၊ အခ်ိန္အားျဖင့္ 21.1.2010 -၀န္းက်င္က၊ သူေရးတဲ့ စာက သူဘာေတြအဒီအခ်ိန္က ေတြးျဖစ္ခဲ့သလဲဆုိတာပါပဲ။ ဟုတ္ေသာ္ရွိ မဟုတ္ေသာ္ရွိ တခ်ိန္က ရွိသေလာက္ အေတြးမွီသေလာက္နဲ႔ ထုိရဟန္းေတြးမိေတြးရာ ေရးမိေရးရာေလးေတြပါ၊ အခြင့္ေရးေတြ ျပိဳင္ဆုိင္က်လာေတာ့လဲ သူအတြက္ အသင့္ေတာ္ဆုံးက အေကာင္းဆုံး ေရြးခ်ယ္စရာတစ္ခု ျဖစ္သြားခဲ့ျပန္တယ္။ ------------------------- “In your opinion, what is the core issue facing the Asia Pacific region today? What type of leadership is required from you to address this issue?” ---------------------------- Now, we living in the Asia Pacific region have different problems such as economic, political, social, environmental, and health problems including natural disaster. Every country tries to solve that crisis of economy and others on its own way for the nation. Economic development of Myanmar is not very successful even ASEAN. Myanmar has been left behind in the Asian economic boom as well. Myanmar government tries to build economy with neighbouring countries. Our neighbouring countries are China, Laos, Thailand, Bangladesh and India. They have a good relationship between these countries. Since 90s Myanmar’s economy has worsened because U.S economic sanctions do not permit freely to the Myanmar government who has negative human rights. So we lost amount of foreign investment. That economic problem causes out of business problem for the Myanmar workers. They try hard to get income and families are not easy for their children to send school. A few of people in Myanmar can afford the money so that their children can study education in good Universities. Most of generations are still fighting to get high education. It is because of economic problem. If they have not sufficient money, they break moral law and so economic problem is open to all corruption. The mind of new generation directly deals with their environment ideas, good or bad. That can be harmful or useful to societies because their surrounding influences on their mind. If they have no the quality of heart, how can we say that the youths today will be the leader of tomorrow? If they don’t have the quality of heart and good education, they will make themselves impolite and don’t care the right, benefit and welfare of others. They don’t care even their health. They don’t want to follow moral Law. At the time, they will have health problem like AIDS. AIDS is spreading faster and wider than even before in Myanmar either. Moreover, we have been challenges facing natural disaster of earthquake or flood. On May in 2008, we, Myanmar people, experienced Nargis Cyclone in Ayarwaddy region and millions of people lost their lives and damaged houses. They need a lot of help from us materially and spiritually. We, Sitagu mission, are not apart from them, we feel their emotion and so we listen to their words carefully and help them to improve their lives with material need and spiritual need. We take responsibility especially moral and spiritual education. However they have any problems, we don’t want them to be morally bankrupt, mentally corrupt and intellectually poor. We teach them the moral lessons that the character is the poor man’s capital and the right way of life so that they will be a good leadership and citizen. The world facing different problem requires good leaderships. This leadership must have not only good hearted and wise men but also good minded men and good learned men. Religious centers must produce good hearted and wise leadership. On the other hand, modern education centers must produce good minded and good learned leadership. I believe that East West Centre can produce a good leadership and benefactor of mankind. So I apply for scholarship so that I want to be a good leader and benefactor for all.
