Moreover, in April 2013, the current Prime Minister of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili said: “I also think that our government led by the president (Mikheil Saakashvili) acted in an inadequate way in that situation. I consider it absolutely unjustified that military units were put on alert and military actions started before Russia crossed our borders.” The fundamental position of Russia is in favor of mending relations with Georgia, as Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev noted in an interview with Georgia’s “Rustavi 2” TV network Aug. 6. Russia is ready to develop those relations, but it should be done with due account for the current circumstances. We are disappointed that all these facts have not been properly covered on the pages of your newspaper, which, as we see it, gives preference to highlighting only the Georgian position. We believe that reproducing provocative releases from the Georgian side is unlikely to serve the interests of further fruitful cooperation between the Republic of Korea and the Russian Federation, which is beneficial for both countries. Well aware of your commitment to the freedom of expression of opinions, we hope that this open letter will be published by you in unchanged form. O.
