Als er das schőne dreistőckige Haus eines anderen Mannes sah, beneidete er ihn darum uns entschloss sich, sich genauso eines bauen zu lassen, da er glaube, er sei ebenso reich. Er bestellte einen Zimmermann und gab ihm den Auftrag, ein Hans zu bauen. Der Zimmermann willigte ein und begann sofort mit dem Bau des Fundaments, des ersten Sotckwerks, des zweiten Stockswerks und schließlich des dritten Stockwerks. Der wohlhabende Man bemerkte dies mit Verärgerung und sagte: “Ich mőchte kein Fundament, auch kein erstes oder zweites Stockwerk. Ich mőchte nur das schőne dritte Stockwerk. Baue es schnell.” Once there was a wealthy but foolish man. When he saw the beautiful three-storied house of another man, he envied it and made up his mind to have one built just like it, thinking he was himself just as wealthy. He called a carpenter and ordered him to build it. The carpenter consented and immediately began to construct the foundation, the first story, the second story, and then the third story. The wealthy man noticed this with irritation and said: ―”I don’t want a foundation or a first story or a second story; I just want the beautiful third story. Build it quickly.” Il y avait une fois un homme riche, mais insense. Voyant la maison d’un autre homme, surmontee d’un magnifique troisieme etage, il en eut envie et il se mit en tete de se faire construire quelque chose de semblable, pensant qu’il en serait d’autant plus riche. Il fit appel a un charprntier et lui donna l’ordre de construire un troisieme etage. Le charpentier accepta et se mit aussitot au travail, posant les foundations et elevant, d’abord un premier etage, puis un second, enfin, le troisieme. Quand l’homme riche vit cela, il se mit en colere et s’ecria: “Je n’ai que faire de foundations, d’un premier et d’un second etage! Ce que je veux, c’est seulement un troisieme etage magnifique. Construis-le-moi tout de suite!” 金持ちではあるが愚かな人がいた。 他人の家の三階づくりの高層が高くそびえて、 美しいのを見て羨ましく思い、 自分も金持ちなのだから、高層の家を造ろうと思った。 大工を呼んで建築を言いつけた。 大工は承知して、まず基礎を作り、 二階を組み、それから三階に進もうとした。 主人はこれを見て、もどかしそうに叫んだ。 「わたしの求めるのは土台ではない、 一階でもない、二階でもない、 三階の高楼（たかどの）だけだ。 早くそれを作れ。」と。 Ein tőrichter Mensch denkt immer nur an die Ergebenisse, und ist ungeduldig, ohne dabei die Anstrengungen auf sich nehmen zu wollen, die nőtig sind, um gute Ergebenisse zu erzielen. Es kann nichts Gutes erreicht werden ohne angemessenes Beműhen, genause wie e skein drittes Stockwerk geben kann ohne das Fundment und den ersten und zweiten Stock. A foolish man always thinks only of the results, and is impatient without the effort that is necessary to get good results. No good can be attained without proper effort, just as there can be no third story without the foundation and the first and the second stories. L’insense ne pense generalement qu’aux resultats et dans son impatience, il negligee l’effort necessaire pour y parvenir.
