さて皆さん、今日はイソリズム (定形反復リズム、isorhythms) あるいは「タレア」(talea) についてのワンポイントレッスンです（知らなかったとしてもお気を悪くなさいませんように）。これは中世の西洋音楽、特に合唱音楽にまでさかのぼる概念ですが、これを理解すると、より良いグルーヴで演奏できるようになります。 「タレア」とは、あるリズムパターンの繰り返しにあわせて現れる決まったパターン（音階的な断片）に関する技法のことです。 ジャズにおけるソロを聴いたことがあれば、楽譜には書かれていないけれども、リズムセクションのスタイルに乗っ取ったフィーリングで弾かれている音符に気づくと思います。この（個々の奏でるフレーズが自然と一団となる）フィーリングをひとたび会得すると、演奏がグルーヴに完璧にかみあい、単純なスケール演奏ですら素晴らしく聴こえるようになります。 あなたが学びたいと思っているミュージシャンのソロ演奏を聴き込み勉強する際には、そのソロの基本的なリズム感を捉えるべく耳を傾け、そのミュージシャンが弾きそうなフレーズを「スウィング感たっぷりに」何度も練習してください。 そして、そのスタイルにしっくりくるデュレーション（各音符の長さ）でもって自然にスケールをアップダウンしながら弾けるようになれば、ソロはスウィングしグルーヴ感たっぷりになるのです。 ところが、日本人ミュージシャンは、リズムセクションを全く聴かずに演奏してしまう、という最大の間違いを犯しているのです。そして、リズムセクションがファンキー、バップ、スウィングといったスタイルで演奏しているのに、ケニー・Gっぽいフレーズでソロをとったりしてしまうのです。 このイソリズミックなアプローチをマスターし上達したいと思われる方は、どうぞお気軽にエディーまでお問い合わせ下さい。私がレッスンいたします。 ---- o.k. a quick lesson for today... Lets talk about isorhythms... or talea -- Dont feel so bad if you dont know what they are... They go back to choral music of the middle ages, but if you understand them, they will improve your groove. A talea is a musical technique that arranges a fixed pattern of pitches with a repeating rhythmic pattern. -- If you listen to any Jazz solo, you will find that the notes arent played exactly as they are written on paper, but a feel based on the style of the rhythm section. Once you capture the feel (the way notes are naturally grouped together) -- your playing will lock in with the groove, and even playing the simplest of scales will work... so what you do is listen to the basic rhythmic feel of the soloist you are studying, then practice scales swung in the way the musician tends to phrase. Once you can play the scales up and down naturally with note durations appropriate to the style, your solos will begin to swing or groove. --The biggest mistake of Japanese musicians, however, is to play without listening to the rhythm section... and this is when you wind up with a rhythm section that might be very funky, bopping or swinging, but a soloist who is still phrasing like Kenny G.
