The history of Wat Klang Klong Takien: Watklang Klong Takien, the over-five-hundred-year-old monastery of Thailand, is commonly known as Watklang Pak Kran by the local Thai people. It was built in the early Ayutthaya period together with its twins, Wat Nak (presently was deserted). Both temples were in its full glory for more than four centuries. The general public often notified them as Wat Nak & Wat Klang temples. In the 17th century when Ayutthaya was sacked, many temples were deserted and largely forgotten. Watklang Klong Takiens days of glory were over. In the aftermath of war, Watklang Klong Takien laid in ruin eventually. Wat klang Klong Takien was in need of serious renovation. By the end of the eighteen-century (1887), the temple had then been restored to, more or less, its orignal glory under the leadership of Luangpoo Maen who was, at that time, the abbot of Watklang Klong Takien.
