비가 오네요. 미국 Pop 에서 비를 subject matter 로 한 노래가 많지는 않습니다. 하지만 그 중 가장 동양의 정서와 많은 부분에서 상통하는 Kathys Song 이란 노래를 드립니다. 물론, 영어+뉴욕 element 를 가진 노래입니다. Simon and Garfunkel 의 Kathys Song... Kathy 는 실존인물로, S&G 가 그들의 데뷔 초창기에 영국에서 좀 어려운 생활을 하던 중, 가까이 지내던 Kathy 라는 여인과 같이 길거리 concert 등을 하며 돈을 벌었다는군요. 그 당시를 회상하며, 이 동영상에 등장하는 Mr. Garfunkel 은 How nice poverty looks in retrospect! (가난도 돌아보면 좋아보이긴 해요) 라고 합니다. Mr. Simon 이 이 Kathy 라는 여인을 그리워하며 만든 노래, Kathys Song 입니다. 사무실 창 밖, 집에서 또는 차 안에서 가사와 함께 들어보세요. 왠만하면 아시리라 생각되는 단어들은 해석을 넣지 않았습니다. 그리고 약간 노력해서 추정하면 이해할 수 있는 의미들 또한 그냥 두었구요 =) I hear the drizzle (가랑비 또는 빗물) of the rain Like a memory it falls Soft and warm continuing Tapping on (똑똑 두드린다) my roof and walls.
