순례자 동지들이여,Fellow pilgrim, 위를 쳐다보라. 위를 쳐다보고 그대의 믿음을 계속 증가시켜라. Look up, look up, and let your faith continually increase. “순례자 동지들이여, 우리는 아직 세상일의 그늘과 소요 속에 살고 있으나 머지않아 우리의 구주께서 구원과 안식을 주시려고 나타나실 것이다. 우리는 믿음으로 하나님의 손으로 묘사된 복된 내세를 바라보자. 세상의 죄악을 위하여 죽으신 그리스도께서는 당신을 믿는 모든 사람들에게 낙원의 문을 활짝 열어 놓으셨다. 732 머잖아 싸움은 끝나고 승리를 얻게 될 것이다. 잠시 후에 우리는 영생의 소망의 중심이신 그리스도를 볼 것이다. 그의 앞에서는 이 세상의 시련과 고통이 아무것도 아닌 것처럼 보일 것이다. 이전 일들은 “기억되거나 마음에 생각나지 아니할 것이다”, “그러므로 너희 담대함을 버리지 말라 이것이 큰상을 얻느니라 너희에게 인내가 필요함은 너희가 하나님의 뜻을 행한 후에 약속을 받기 위함이라 잠시 잠간 후면 오실 이가 오시리니 지체하지 아니하시리라”, “이스라엘은…영원한 구원을 얻으리니 영세에 부끄러움을 당하거나 욕을 받지 아니하리로다”(사 65:17; 히 10:35~37; 사 45:17). 위를 쳐다보라. 위를 쳐다보고 그대의 믿음을 계속 증가시켜라. 이 신앙이 그대를 좁은 길 곧 도성의 문들을 통하여 구속 받은 이들을 위한 위대한 내세, 넓고 무한한 영광의 미래로 인도하는 좁은 길로 안내하게 하라. “그러므로 형제들아 주의 강림하시기까지 길이 참으라 보라 농부가 땅에서 나는 귀한 열매를 바라고 길이 참아 이른비와 늦은비를 기다리나니 너희도 길이 참아 마음을 굳게 하라 주의 강림하심이 가까우니라”(약 5:7, 8). 구원 받은 민족들은 하늘의 율법만을 알게 될 것이다. 모두 찬양과 감사로 옷 입게 될 것이며 한 가족이 되어 행복하게 살 것이다. 733 새벽별들이 함께 노래하고 하나님의 아들들이 기뻐 부르짖는 광경을 보시면서 하나님과 그리스도께서는 연합하여 “다시는 죄도 없고 죽음도 없으리라”고 선언하실 것이다. “여호와가 말하노라 매 월삭과 매 안식일에 모든 혈육이 이르러 내 앞에 경배하리라”, “여호와의 영광이 나타나고 모든 육체가 그것을 함께 보리라”, “주 여호와께서 의와 찬송을 열방 앞에 발생하게 하시리라”, “그 날에 만군의 여호와께서 그 남은 백성에게 영화로운 면류관이 되시며 아름다운 화관이 되실 것”이다. “여호와가 시온을 위로하되 그 모든 황폐한 것을 위로하여 그 광야로 에덴 같고 그 사막으로 여호와의 동산 같게 하였나니 레바논의 영광과 갈멜과 사론의 아름다움을 얻을 것이라”, “다시는 너를 버리운 자라 칭하지 아니하며 다시는 네 땅을 황무지라 칭하지 아니하고 오직 너를 헵시바라 하며 네 땅을 뿔라라 하리니…신랑이 신부를 기뻐함같이 네 하나님이 너를 기뻐하시리라”(사 66:23, 40:5, 61:11, 28:5, 51:3, 35:2, 62:4, 5).“(사도행적731~733) “Fellow pilgrim, we are still amid the shadows and turmoil of earthly activities; but soon our Saviour is to appear to bring deliverance and rest. Let us by faith behold the blessed hereafter as pictured by the hand of God. He who died for the sins of the world is opening wide the gates of Paradise to all who believe on Him. Soon the battle will have been fought, the victory won. Soon we shall see Him in whom our hopes of eternal life are centered. And in His presence the trials and sufferings of this life will seem as nothingness. The former things "shall not be remembered, nor come into mind." "Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. For yet a little while, and He that shall come will come, and will not tarry." "Israel shall be saved. . . with an everlasting salvation: ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end." Isaiah 65:17; Hebrews 10:35-37; Isaiah 45:17. Look up, look up, and let your faith continually increase. Let this faith guide you along the narrow path that leads through the gates of the city into the great beyond, the wide, unbounded future of glory that is for the redeemed. "Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh." James 5:7, 8. The nations of the saved will know no other law than the law of heaven. All will be a happy, united family, clothed with the garments of praise and thanksgiving. Over the scene the morning stars will sing together, and the sons of God will shout for joy, while God and Christ will unite in proclaiming. "There shall be no more sin, neither shall there be any more death. "And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before Me, saith the Lord." "The glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together." "The Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations." "In that day shall the Lord of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of His people." "The Lord shall comfort Zion: He will comfort all her waste places; and He will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the Lord." "The glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon." "Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called My Delight, and thy land Beulah. . . .
