➡️ A TURK and an American jailed for 15 years each in connection with a luxury watch heist at a Bahrain mall have had their sentences upheld on appeal. The pair were sentenced by the High Criminal Court on September 18 for helping hide and transport the stolen goods. Six Eastern European men were also handed life sentences in absentia for their part in the robbery, which saw around 80 watches worth $1.4 million stolen from the Rolex shop in City Centre Bahrain in September last year. These six have been identified as Aliu Rrahman, 30, Frani Petrit, 32, Ekrem Gashi, 35, Dedaj Astrit, 23, Abazi Gentijan, 24, and 36-year-old Djerdji Djin. Disguised as women, wearing abayas and hijabs, they broke into the shop, attacked a Pakistani security guard and planted a hoax bomb to aid their escape. Prosecutors said the men approached a Turkish political analyst and an American, both living in Bahrain, to conceal and transport the stolen goods out of the country. These two appealed against their convictions at the Supreme Criminal Appeals Court, which yesterday upheld their sentences. They will be deported after completing their sentence. According to court documents, the American conspired with the other defendants to carry out the robbery and arranged for their transportation inside Bahrain. He concealed the stolen items and later took them to the Turkish man, who hid them inside his hotel room.
