Position - Linux Systems Engineer The Linux Systems Engineer position is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values. The ideal candidate should be an experienced technical operations individual who has the capacity to drive and work on a wide variety of technical operations tasks from lower level hardware/OS builds to higher level application specific operations. Duties / Responsibilities * The Linux Systems Engineer will support daily operations and help develop strategies to improve availability and utilization of Linux/Unix environments. * Will contribute to the evolving design and architecture of reliable and scalable infrastructure * Ensure proper monitoring, alerting, capacity planning and reporting in the production environment. * Ability to work with conflicting priorities and able to use initiative to develop solutions. * May require off hours and weekend support Required skills and experience * Must have expertise with RedHat, CentOS and other Linux distributions with applied experience of 5 years or more in Administration of Linux/Apache/MySQL. Must also have related experience with associated open-source and enterprise applications * Experience maintaining open source packages and/or working with the open source community. * Well versed with industry-standard foundation technologies such as DNS, SMTP, NTP, LDAP, and NFS * Must have understanding of scripting (Shell/Perl/Python/Ruby/Bash). * Experience managing a large distributed computing environment. * Experience with tools used for performance monitoring of server systems * Experience with centralized patch management of Linux servers * Advanced application debugging knowledge. Perform root cause analysis for service interruption recovery; create preventative measures.
