On behalf of the Emerging Leaders Network, we thank you for your continued support of young professionals throughout Northwest Indiana. The South Shore Rail Line is the engine of growth for our region. It is our generational opportunity to increase connectivity to one of the world’s largest economy, the City of Chicago. It is also an opportunity for us to be deliberate about attracting and retaining young talent. To date, thanks to you, much progress has been made. 11 out of 20 communities in Lake County have already signed inter-local agreements to move this project forward and other communities are anticipated to follow in the near future. Thats a 62% increase over the income currently being returned by the existing South Shore Rail Line. The extension will also increase property values, spur transit-oriented development in communities on and near the new line, and increase the regions attractiveness to companies looking to relocate in Northwest Indiana.
