***Attention Melbourne Koorie Community*** Firefighters The Department of Environment and Primary Industries (DEPI) and Parks Victoria (PV) are running a statewide search for skilled, fit and healthy people to become Project Firefighters (PFF) this summer. We employ field based seasonal firefighters to assist with the prevention and suppression of bushfires in parks and forests across Victoria. It’s a job where no two days are the same. Are you ready for the challenge? All training will be provided and positions are open to those who: • Have a high level of fitness. • Are a team player. • Hold a current manual drivers license. Positions are available over the warmer months (generally between November and April) and include: • Firefighters (includes designated indigenous positions) • Support officers • Rappel and hover exit crews Salaries commence from $842.22 per week plus superannuation. Park Rangers CITY OF WHITTLESEA (PARKS & GARDENS UNIT) BUSHLAND MANAGEMENT TRAINEE – POSITION OVERVIEW POSITION OBJECTIVES • To participate as part of a team to implement operational programs for the control of noxious and environmental weeds, and restoration of bushland in Council Parks and Reserves. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Under the general direction of the Bushland Works Officer and the Bushland Field Officers, the Bushland Trainee is responsible for: GENERAL DUTIES • Perform the daily work activities in the implementation of the bushland annual works programs including weed control, revegetation and habitat restoration works. • Comply with Council Policy, procedures and relevant Legislation. • Assist in maintaining written records of teams works. • To respond in an acceptable and courteous manner to inquiries, public complaints and requests with regard to matters relating to the incumbent’s area of responsibility. PEOPLE/CUSTOMER SERVICE • Respond to queries from general public • Report any outstanding works to supervisors • Participate in the implementation of educational activities and community days for schools, friends groups and the community.
