~Barbara and Willie, Managers, Stone Ledge Paradise Inn, Key - TopicsExpress

~Barbara and Willie, Managers, Stone Ledge Paradise Inn, Key Largo~ Barbara: Our Inn is owned by Kathy Lassiter, one of the patron saints of the children of the Keys. We have been friends for almost 40 years. I survived brain surgery when I was six years old. I fell from a tree and developed a blood clot on the brain and I was in a coma for days. I still have some short term memory loss, usually forgetting where my cell phone is, lol and I have trouble reading for a very long time, but, Im lucky to be here and I know it. I was managing a hotel on South Beach and one day Kathy called and said do you want to live in my Inn and manage it for me in quiet, beautiful, Key Largo and live right on the Bay? I looked outside at the traffic, listened to all the road noise and in about 5 seconds, said, yes. Weve been here now 9 years. In addition to managing the Inn, I campaign for candidates that Kathy and I support and I work with Kathy and others on her Teddy Bear Project each year. Ive seen a lot of pretty funny things here, but, we have a lot of repeat customers and its a quiet, beautiful place to stay. We dont charge a boat fee to launch from our pier. We dont charge a pet fee and we love and welcome dogs. We have wifi and our rooms are clean and simple. We do have one really nice apartment right on the water with 2 bedrooms, a full kitchen, courtyard area and other amenities. We are the least expensive place to stay in the entire Keys on the water. Everyone who stays here seem to visit with each other on our picnic tables and its so safe most will come to the beach without locking their rooms. We can see all the rooms from the beach and office, so its a really safe place. Sometimes this makes for interesting events. Several of our guests were cooking out in the picnic area, drinking a few beers and just visiting. One of the ladies got tired and decided to go to her room and take a nap. She got to the room, stripped all of her clothes off and lay down on the bed to sleep. A few minutes later we all heard a young boy screaming, Mama, theres a naked old lady in my bed. The door was unlocked and she had gone in the wrong room. Thatll tell you how safe and comfortable and relaxed it is here. Netflix took over the whole place recently for a week to shoot the Sissy Spacek series. All of the employees were given a week off with pay and all the Netflix crew were so nice. They returned the Inn to the same way they found it before they left. They utilized the large apartment on the water and the beach area. I cant wait to see the series and see our Inn. So, next time you come down, stop by and see us for a visit, sit on the bay, have a cup of coffee or a beer and see the Keys at their best. Willie: Im originally from Puerto Rico, then New York, then Miami, lol, then married Barbara and now Im so glad to be here. We live here and manage the Inn and I wouldnt want to be anywhere else. stoneledgeparadiseinn/about/
