Delhi government is all set to launch food security programme from 20th August 2013. With this, Delhi will be the first state in India to launch Union government’s food security programme. Over 32 lakh identified families willstart getting benefit under the scheme from the 1st September 2013.In the first phase, BPL and APL families, Jhugi Jhopadi ration card holders and those under Antodaya ration yojana will be covered. 2. National Research Professor at the National Centre for Biological Sciences and Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) Obaid Siddiqi, passed away in a Bangalore hospital yesterday. He was 81. He was honoured with several awards, including Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, BC Roy Award for Bio-medical Research and Firodia Award for Basic Sciences. Current Affairs Global – 28 July 2013 1.
