“If you take away the yoke from your midst, The pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness, If you extend your soul to the hungry And satisfy the afflicted soul, Then your light shall dawn in the darkness, And your darkness shall be as the noonday. The Lord will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. -Isaiah 58:9-11 This verse has spoken volumes to me this morning. If you focus on the fulfillment of others, then God will fulfill you. I spend way too much time on myself, taking care of my responsibilities...my homework, my leadership positions, my jobs, my projects. Unfortunately, Ive learned that this is not the way to satisfaction. I need to spend more time focusing on others and their needs, instead of just my own. God desires for us to dedicate time to others out of an overflow of our hearts for Him.
