(Its and honor to share this warm and heartfelt email/letter with the many thousands of family and friends on this tribute page for Brendan... his legacy is reaching many and creating so many positive responses. Thank you, Jack! For joining the effort, contributing to the BPT 13 Memorial Field Fund, and keeping the Good Vibes and Easy Living moving forward in Boston!) Dear Patrick, By way of introduction, my name is Jack and am a 67 year old Bostonian... As you might surmise, I am part of a large Irish extended family, filled with individuals of character, talent and achievement, very much in the mold of the Tevlin’s and especially Brendan. We just recently learned of the murder of Brendan, the circumstances surrounding such an evil act and then the story of Brendan and his family. We were instantly deeply saddened and yet also hit with an enormous wave of anger that I know will persist for a great while. Our sincere condolences go out to Brendan’s parents, siblings and the whole extended Tevlin clan. While there are many elements of commonality between the Tevlin’s [and our family], there is one in particular that could not help but to bring the loss of Brendan very close to our own homes and lives. One of my sisters, has a son, who graduated from the University of Richmond last spring, Being a few years apart at UR, Ian did not know Brendan but as the saying goes, they could have been ‘twins separated at birth’…a physical resemblance, positive personalities, top students, athletes, with a love for music and even surfing. Ian studied both business and music at UR and continues to live in Richmond, where he is pursuing his passion for music. As you can imagine, there being such strong parallels with Brendan and Ian, our reaction to your family’s loss of Brendan was immediate and powerful and yet can only be a tiny fraction of the pain being endured by the Tevlin’s. You are all in our prayers. I also want you to know that I will be donating five thousand dollars to the fund you have established for Brendan in conjunction with Seton Hall Prep. I hope to be able to add to this at some point. It is an honor to participate in such a fitting tribute to Brendan. With warmest regards and sympathy, Jack
