#MondayMonologue on a Tuesday *walks on stage in his #Okie hat holding a computer tablet* I need some help with this computer thing... I had read an article, on this very tablet not too long back, that has now vanished and this silly tablet acts as if the article and website never existed. I keep getting error.... ERR! I know the website exists and I know I wasnt dreaming in the hammock when I read the article. My eyes saw it! So what is the deal, pickle? I may not be a genius, but I am a thinker and my thinker thinks something stinks and someone has taken the authority to either block my computer from the website or both the website and I from talking....Maybe, the address changed and it just has not been updated.. Either way, I am being #WebBlocked and it is not fun at all. I was very excited to share the article over the US giving up its oversight of ICANN - the not for profit entity whom keeps registries and maintains internet addresses, mainly Top Level Domains (TLD) - and the potential impact allowing such an entity to be influenced monetarily by the highest global force could have on World Wide Web censorship, business, and communications... But, NO...I have to walk out here all sad and blue asking for a hand in figuring this whole #WebBlocking out... Seeing that the US did invent the internet in US colleges across the many states, the US has a high interest in oversight of ICANN, unless that is, you think the US could use that oversight for spying and collecting data on you in some fashion, which I find highly unlikely. The US has been very good in allowing internet freedom but has looked in recent years to squelch libertys static chant. By removing oversight, maybe it removes itself from being the obstacle many totalitarian countries have fought to hurdle in effort to #WebBlock its citizens and Western influence? Nobody likes a #WebBlocker, folks...Nobody... Top websites like Microsoft, Twitter, YouTube, SpaceBook, or whateva dot com submit changes to IANA function operators who diligently process the request by contacting the NTIA for verification. NTIA checks protocols were followed and authorizes the Root Zone Manager (Verisign) to go in and update the root zone file and send it out to the the 13 root zone operators. Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers -Internet Assigned Numbers Authority National Telecommunications and Information Administration VeriSign - American private company Removing NTIA (US oversight) allows the ICANN to seek funding from the highest bidder, regardless of view on what is allowed on the internet. Will they? That is the Trillion dollar question... It seems Russia, China, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Iran all want this to happen....All happily partaking in #WebBlocking and mostly restrict about how terrible and brutal those WebBlockers are...If they are allowed to disrupt protocol of internet addresses, the internet the western world so heavily relies upon, may splinter causing all kinds of chaos and will definitely lower the gates to global censorship. Then again, with revelations of US spying on foreign countries, allies and foes, as well as its own folks, a cry to remove the US is fairly understandable and so is the notion oppressive dicktatorships will use it as a guise to inflict more limitation on freedom.... This stinks all the way around.... Get use to some frustrating web-surfing, folks... *breaks iPad over his head and drops the pieces on the floor. Throws his hat and leaves the stage rubbing his head*
