#Olympia - Starting Monday, October 28, and continuing through the end of December, the City’s contractor, KBH Construction Co., will begin construction of pedestrian crossing improvements at the following locations: · Harrison Avenue at Rogers Street NW – New pedestrian curb ramps and a striped pedestrian crosswalk. · Harrison Avenue at Decatur Street NW – New pedestrian curb ramps and a striped pedestrian crosswalk. · Capital Mall Drive at Archwood Drive NW (adjacent to Friendly Village Mobile Home Community) – New pedestrian curb ramps and a pedestrian crossing island. Work will occur from 7:30 am - 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday, in the vicinity of all three locations. Traffic control will be in place, so please use caution when traveling through the areas. Travelers may experience occasional delays. In addition to the improvements listed above, all three locations will also the newest type of traffic warning device, called Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFB). These beacons enhance driver yield compliance over other typical crosswalk treatments such as round post-mounted beacons, overhead beacons and in-pavement beacons. The improvements will enhance the safety of pedestrians crossing these multi-lane high-traffic-volume roadways.
