: Prevention is better than cure : Are you feeding your body the nutrients it needs ? Are you just filling yourself up with junk food ? Is that chicken nugget / mcdonalds burger / coke doing any good for your body ? Be mindful of what you put in your body , today I heard news of someone who not only has kidney failure but also lung infection and gangrene all at the same time and it was saddening because it can all be prevented if we take better care of our bodies. To Muslims , the coming Ramadan is a great time to let your body rest from the junk overload you subject it to daily and detox , be mindful of what you eat when breaking fast. Use the holy month to get into a habit of 1) eating nutritious sunnah food like dates, grapes, watermelons, rock melons as well as juicy salads , fresh juices and drinking lots of fresh clean water 2) practice the rule of thirds as mentioned in the Quran : 1/3 food, 1/3 water, 1/3 air 3) prepare your own meals from scratch instead of buying them , use the time preparing the meal to bond as a family 4) cut out all processed foods , your body needs proper nutrients in order for it to keep working at an optimal level 5) have something light for sahur and get into the habit of drinking water first thing when you wake up and feeding your body nutrients within an hour of waking up What we usually have for sahur are just milk, water, dates , oats/grains , spirulina. This keeps both me and Juff well charged and ready for the whole day , we dont feel as thirsty as compared to when we have rice and we feel more energized. Less than a week to go for Ramadan, excited!!!!
