~Sara and Nick~ Islamorada I was born and raised in the Keys. But, Nick and I never met until early 2009 at the Fish Bowl. I thought he was a nice looking guy but he had this goofy Nextel phone, the ones that are a beep beep walky talking thing. He thought I was weird because I had a phone clipped to my belt in a phone case. We have both matured since then and have I-phones now. After I met Nick and his family I naturally became immersed in everything fishing and boating related. I also grew up on the water with my family and I learned to drive a boat before I could drive a car. Nicks dad, Richard, suggested I would be entertaining to people as a boat tour guide so he pushed me to get my Capt. License and helped me get a boat and business up and running. I started with eco tours and sightseeing which I still do sometimes, but, now I mainly do lobster charters during lobster season. I dont take people on fishing trips, at least yet. Nick and I have had so many experiences fishing. One day we were all out swordfishing and the mate fell overboard while trying to get the fish on the boat and I got the whole thing on camera. At first I was scared for the mates safety, but he was perfectly ok aside from losing his hat and sunglasses. The whole situation was pretty comical since the fish fell back into the water and it took another hour to reel him back up to the boat again. We did end up catching him. We hope to go to New Zealand fishing for our honeymoon! That would be something to always remember. Nick is pretty competitive about his fishing, me, not so much, I just like to have fun. Recently we were fishing in tournament and I wanted to win the ladies high point angler award (which I did!) but in order to do so I had to purposefully make sure Nick didn’t come along because he would have tried to steal all the fish and points I caught to get the award and since he’s a guy there was a separate category for him and a ton of other guys in the tournament, but only a few women so I was more likely to win it. When we go deep dropping for tilefish and grouper it gets competitive to see who can catch the biggest fish. I seem to have really good luck for some reason and have caught some whopper 37lb Golden Tilefish which I know Nick was jealous of because it was the first time we had ever really tried to catch that species so he was miffed he didn’t get the big one and I did. I am proud to soon be part of the Stanczyk family, they have great family history and Im sure that spending the rest of my life fishing and being around the marina will be a ton of fun and adventures. Its kind of a dream life I guess. Nick and I hope to have children one day, hopefully just one to start with, but, I am a twin and my moms side of the family has 2 other sets of twins, so, there is a good chance for multiples. Im glad we are finally engaged. It only took Nick 6 years to realize Ill be the perfect wife . Nick: It took me a while, but, I knew for a long time she was The One. . Shes a very talented artist. Shes a great photographer. She catches lobster. She doesnt take any crap in the marina office from disgruntled customers. And she can drive a boat : )
