Will Crowther: This is simply because organized religion kills. ALL organized religions kill. I just hadnt thought of fascism as a religion before. Clearly Benito did, and he was one of its greatest practitioners. Maureen Lynch Bocardo: I hadnt either, Will Crowther, until I came across the quote. Its quite logical. RELIGION = POWER by convincing people to give them their money or suffer grave consequences after death. HUGE CORPORATIONS, BANKS, WALL STREET AND/OR INDIVIDUALS like the Waltons or Koch brothers dont require more MONEY. They require POWER. In order to maintain their POWER, the masses have to live in poverty. Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would allow the guy on the street to get education for himself or his children. Once one has food and shelter whats left over can be used to challenge the POWER of those at the top. As FDR pointed out, ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or any controlling private power = FASCISM = POWER So, in essence, Mussolini was right. Think of how the Catholic Church has operated for centuries. Using the threat of Hell, the Church controlled entire monarchies and countries. Will Crowther: Well, its certainly true that the most powerful christian sect, the catholic church, has mistreated the people it claimed it was there to help. It has used them as cannon fodder in the churchs incredibly violent wars and other efforts to convert people of wrong faiths; condemned and murdered them as heretics for even thinking of resorting to science rather than church-sanctioned stupidstition; and, likely worst of all, condemning women to lives of servitude, exclusion, and a lower class of existence for ... being women. Hmm ... lets look at other religions. Yep, all the same prejudices and hates. One more time: Organized religion kills. ALL organized religions kill.
