Thompson ;-) One night as i sat waiting for my cousin to call i happened to look at my distributor monthly print out, I sat and worked out that it would take around 12,000 streams of my songs for me to be able to afford a pint of Guinness, and on this particular night we were planning a good few pints of the creamy stuff. Now that sort of distribution of the money cant be good for anyone except of course the streaming companies, now I know some people could say well dont let them stream your songs but isnt that exactly the same as the fools who say well if you dont like it here then leave the country when we complain about a corrupt government? The streaming companies always get in touch saying that they will open up new markets for you, but they never do, no-one in China is going to search my name unless i ask them to, and the streaming companies will only promote your name if you pay them to do so, it is usually the songwriters who promote their songs, so in reality it is actually the songwriters who are opening up new markets and audiences for the streaming companies to exploit, and charge, and rake in millions from advertising, and something has to change. We all need paying for what we do, and if someone wants to listen to music and the streaming companies are making lots of money out of it then they should share the money out much more evenly, streaming is not an addition to earning, it is actually taking away our right to earn from sales, people are streaming instead of paying for a download or buying a CD, and it is worrying where it will all end, but shouldnt these streaming companies remember that if it wasnt for songwriters then they wouldnt have a business at all? Hopefully one day soon all the songwriters will get together and tell these thieves that enough is enough, they have pushed us too far, we will create a new way all by ourselves without the business types, but until that day, sign if you agree.....
