This must be one of my personal all time fav songs Ive written, way back in 1980 touring in a beat up bus coming back from VT to Watkins Glen, been on the road for so long , in those days no cell phones, laptops, nadda, only way we could call home is save a bag of coins and stop at rest areas/truck stops, maybe every 2 weeks depending if we had enough coinage, then call home, talk to the babies and theyre voices always sound so much older every time, I scribbled these words down with the music in my head, I cried, cried, and cried, my forehead leaning on the very cold frosted windows , as the landscapes flew by, heading home, the bumps on the thruway, keeping somewhat of a time for the song, the bus finally creeping up my driveway, my babies waiting on the porch, oh yeah , Home for a day then back out again! As said one of my fav songs and one of my worse productions Ive recorded since I wanted to do the production all y my self, and it shows the amateur mix and mastering! But all in all, it touches HOME!
