(Very Interesting Weekend) I have witnessed so much deceit and such abuse of power that sometimes you just don’t know who to trust. I have sought out assistance near and far and have found that some of the people I have reached out to are very much politically connected, powerful and charismatic. Some are so inspirational that they can direct thousands; even millions toward a single objective, providing a new perspective, and challenging them to abandon their views. They call themselves leaders but I guess my question is where are these so called leaders really leading us? Leadership today is lacking as many of them are more concerned with what they aspire for personally rather than the needs of the people they claim to serve. A true leader must lead by example and if that leader does not live by his own words, he or she cannot be trusted. Not all leaders are like this, but who the cap fits let them wear it. We must set a standard for our leaders so that they understand that true leadership is not about power, its more about your dedication to a purpose that is greater than yourself as well as teaching others to be leaders so that when you are no longer around the baton is handed off and not dropped. Some may view this as a rant or even say I am bitter when in fact it is neither; I am merely pointing out what I have experienced in seeking justice in the killing of my father. I also understand that speaking out against the powers that be can be a scary thing and it involves taking risk but when a true leader sees injustice they know that something must be done, and will not allow anything to stop them from doing what they must; I believe that is righteous indignation. This is where true leaders are separated from the pretenders.
