“We are in Saint Petersburg” by our young dancers Adrianna Rieske (17) and Mariusz Morawski (16) Adrianna : We are the students of the Feliks Parnell State Ballet School in Lodz ( Poland). I have been a part of a professional Ballet School for seven years, and Mariusz has been there for five years. We came to Petersburg on an “International Ballet Festival - Dance Open” with Aleksandra Stanislawska – artistic director of our school and with Agata Jankowska – Dobrowolska – my ballet teacher. The participation in “Dance Open” is a very big experience for us. The Festival gave us the opportunity to work with fantastic coaches like: Julia Makhalina, Vladimir Malakhov, Stanislav Feco, Igor Petrov or Anton Korsakov. Mariusz: During the master classes the teachers gave me a lot of advices and tips, which will help me become a better dancer. Our performance in the Gala of the Young Stars was an amazing experience. We had the opportunity to dance on a stage in a city with such a big ballet tradition. I presented my own contemporary choreography named “The Choice”. On the other hand Adrianna danced a variation from ballet “Paquita”. Adrianna: Thanks to the organizers of Dance Open we got to know Petersburg not only from the ballet side. We had got a possibility to admire its history, culture and artistry. We went sightseeing the famous Hermitage, Peter and Paul Fortress and many other monuments. On the closing ceremony we will have the honor to watch the Gala of International Ballet Stars Dance Open in Aleksandrinsky Theatre. We also visited the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet. Mariusz: The atmosphere of the Festival is great. I met new people from countries around the world. I hope that next year we will come here again.
