"bin laden" has served his main purpose by acting as a "patsy" or as the principle "scapegoat" who took the blame for 9-11, thereby diverting all of the "heat" away from the real perpe-traitors of that crime. He also served as a casus belli for the invasion of Afghanistan. The real criminals are easy enough to identify since they are the ones who were quick to evoke the name of "bin laden" as a pretext for carrying out their ambitions.
