1 - >> . John 14:28 says : ... my Father is greater than I am . If Jesus is equal with the Father , then why Jesus said that His Father was greater than he? ANSWER : Jesus spoke these words after he humbled himself and became a servant ( Phil. 2:5-8 ) . Furthermore , the term major refers to the position or function , the office and not nature, since both are God (see John 1:1 in , 8:58, 10:30) . God is God because of their nature ( Galatians 4:8 ) . Jesus is saying in John . 14:28 that the Father has a higher office or position it . This is how the term top is used as clearly seen in Gen 41:40 . This verse says : You [ Joseph ] shall be in charge of my palace , and all my people will submit their orders . Only as regards the throne I [ Pharaoh ] m bigger than you . Pharaoh was bigger than Joseph only by position or function , but not as NATURE . The nature of Pharaoh and Joseph was the same , ie , both are a human. As an earthly father who has the same humanity that his son, but has a higher than this function, so the Father and the Son in the Trinity are equal in essence but different in function. Similarly , we say that the president of the country is higher than other citizens , not by virtue of their character , but by virtue of his position . So we can not say that Jesus was considered the minimum that was less than God in nature .
