1 John 4 ღϠ✞✞✞₡ღ And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world ღϠ✞✞✞₡ღ Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. And we have known and believed the ㄥﻉﻻ٥ that God hath to us. God is ㄥﻉﻻ٥; and he that dwelleth in ㄥﻉﻻ٥ dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is our ㄥﻉﻻ٥ made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in ㄥﻉﻻ٥; but perfect ㄥﻉﻻ٥ casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in ㄥﻉﻻ٥ ... We ㄥﻉﻻ٥ Him, because He first loved us. If a man say, I ㄥﻉﻻ٥ God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he ㄥﻉﻻ٥ God whom he hath not seen? And this commandment have we from him, that he who loveth God ㄥﻉﻻ٥ his brother also ... What is perfect ㄥﻉﻻ٥ or completed ㄥﻉﻻ٥? ... John says it is that we may have boldness in the day of judgement. In the context above He is saying that when the judgement comes, we will know that Jesus is the savior and that knowledge will enable us to be bold before the judgement seat of God, because we are ㄥﻉﻻ٥ just as God is ㄥﻉﻻ٥. He concludes with a test by which we can know that God dwells in us in ㄥﻉﻻ٥: if we dont ㄥﻉﻻ٥ others we can know we dont ㄥﻉﻻ٥ God. If we dont ㄥﻉﻻ٥ others, we should be terrified rather than bold in the day of judgement. But if we ㄥﻉﻻ٥, we can be bold. Therefore, the casting out of fear here is not in the same context as fearing God. We walk in the fear (combined terror/reverence) of God, but we do so boldly. Perhaps it is a bit of a paradox, or even an oxymoron (bold fear).
