1 Thessalonians 2:14-16 14 ... You suffered from your fellow citizens the same things those churches suffered from the Jews, 15 who killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets and also drove us out. They displease God and are hostile to everyone 16 in their effort to keep us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved. In this way they always heap up their sins to the limit. The wrath of God has come upon them at last. 3 very important things you learn here. The sins which these persons which Paul speaks about is that they do not believe and yet to stop Paul from preaching to the Gentiles. No. 2. These people are not Christians nor Gentiles. They are religious Jews of Pauls generation. No. 3 They are not of this generation. Note this is what Jesus said. Luke 17:25 25 But first he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation. Matthew 23:13 13 [14] Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in peoples faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to. The generation Paul and Jesus was referring to was to the Pharisees and the teachers of the Law of his generation. Hence when Paul speaks about the wrath of God that was coming upon them, he was speaking about the coming judgment in AD70 on that generation. Note the words at last? See this. Revelation 6:9-11 9 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained. 10 They called out in a loud voice, How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood? 11 Then each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to wait a little longer, until the full number of their fellow servants and brothers and sisters were killed just as they had been. Now read this. Luke 11:50-51 50 Therefore this generation will be held responsible for the blood of all the prophets that has been shed since the beginning of the world, 51 from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who was killed between the altar and the sanctuary. Yes, I tell you, this generation will be held responsible for it all. That generation not ours. The people described in the 5th seal are the people who have up their lives ranging from Abel to Zechariah. Their prayers were answered at last in AD 70 when the day of The Lord came with vengeance. The generation responsible is that of Jesuss generation. Not ours. Please share.
